Though we may come to expect the inevit of death as a part of life, it never fails to strike us deeply when we lose someone dear to us. Today, we gather to celebrate the rich and beautiful life of Annie M. Lewis, a cherished member of the community whose light will forever shine in our hearts Annie was born on November 30, 1946, in the serene town of Farmington, NM, to her loving parents John and Mary C Joe. She grew up surrounded by warmth and love from her family, deeply in her culture as she was born to Hashtlishii (Mud Clan) and for Tlizidachii (Red Goat Clan).
In her journey through life, Annie achieved academic success that she was truly proud of - earning a Bachelor of Arts in Bi-Cultural Studies from Fort Lewis College. She also earned her library science degree from Northern New Mexico college , Annie was employed with Dine College as a library technician for almost 47 years. Her thirst for knowledge and dedication to education were commendable traits that she carried with grace.
Annie's vibrant personality was marked by her unwavering faith and devotion as a Prayer Warrior member of Dineh Christian Center. Her spiritual strength was evident in every aspect of her life, guiding those around her with love and kindness.
Aside from her professional achievements and spiritual devotion, Annie found joy in simple pleasures like traveling, reading, and most importantly, spending time with her beloved family. Her presence brought comfort and happiness to all who knew her.
On July 1, 2024, Annie M. Lewis peacefully passed away at home in Shiprock, NM, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion that will never be forgotten. She is survived by her loving family: daughters Rosalind A. Russell, Rowena A. Lewis, Angelena M. Pineda, Alicia M. Crosby and son in law, Michael Crosby ; Brother Robert Joe; Sister Darlene Joe; grandchildren and great-grand children Michael B. Russell Jr., Rodrique A. Russell, Miracle L. Russell, Gabriel M. Russell, Meesha Russell, Zechariah Russell, Renaissa Crosby, John Crosby Jr., Jahziel Crosby, Raziah Crosby, Ramir Crosby, Ja-liyah Crosby, Cruzes Gonzales, Liviana Salas, Renee Jordan, Veya Jordan ,Ryneal Lewis-Adams, Reisha Lewis-Adams, Rhakel Lewis-Adams , Alaina Crosby, Michael Crosby Jr., Angelo Gonzales , Marisol Gonzales, Delilah Pineda; The loss of Annie leaves a void in our hearts that words cannot fill; however , we find solace in the memories she gifted us with during her time on earth.
She Preceded in death by son Angelo M. Lewis and Grandparents Shorty and Minnie Nez and Grandson Tomas Gonzales.
A Celebration of Life Service Annie will commence on July 5, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Dineh Christian Center in Shiprock NM.
Following the service, she will be lad to rest at Memory Gardens Cemetery, In Farmington NM.
Annie will forever be remembered for her kindness, faithfulness and her love for God. She will be greatly missed.
