David Roy Newton sr.

On November 10, 2021, David Newton Sr. was called home and departed this earthly life.
David Newton Sr. was born August 15, 1929, in Nageezi, New Mexico. His clans were Bit’ahnii (Mother),
Nihoobaani (Father), Tachii’nii (Maternal Grandparents), To’aheedlinii (Paternal Grandparents).
David was married to Elsie Bitsillie, they enjoyed 66 wonderful years of marriage and settled in
Dzilthnaodlthle, New Mexico where they lived and raised their 8 sons.
David is preceded in death by his wife Elsie and son Gary. He is survived by his seven sons Larry, Terry,
Jerry, Perry, Barry, Darren, David Jr., 18 grandkids 22 great grand kids, and 4 great-great grandkids.
David worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, San Juan Power Plant, the pipeline and was a mechanic for
Otis and Huerfano Trading Post.
He had countless hobbies that included hunting, fishing, watching wresting and of course his favorite
game show Family Feud. One of David’s favorite things to do was attending his grandkids games and
events.
David loved to laugh, tell stories about his childhood and be around his family. He leaves a behind a
legacy of hard work and putting your children and family first.
The family would like to thank Dr. Joyce Kaferle for the care given over the years and his final days.
The viewing will be Monday November 15, 2021, from 4-5 pm at Cope Memorial in Kirtland, 458 Co RD
6100, Kirtland, NM 87417.
There will be a gravesite service held at BIC Mission, 240 NM-57, Bloomfield, NM 87413, on November
16, 2021, at 10:00 am.
