Delores K. McKnight, our beloved mother entered the gates of Heaven to her Heavenly Father on Saturday November 27th 2021. She was born January 30, 1947 to Marcelino and Leanor DeHerrera of Bloomfield, NM where she grew up and attended Bloomfield Schools. On February 6th, 1965 she married her husband James McKnight Sr and together they built their life and raised four children in Farmington. For many years she worked for Frontier Mobile Homes but found her true joy and contentment when she began working for the Farmington School Transportation Department, where she worked for many years. She served the Legion of Mary for St. Mary's and it brought great joy to her. She had many things in her life that brought her happiness but some of the best were being in her yard gardening, cooking and taking care of her grandchildren. She had great love for all of her family and friends and will be missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband James McKnight Sr, daughter Eleanor McKnight Holliday, grandson Johnny Benjamin Vialpando, Parents Marcelino and Leanor DeHerrera, Grandparents Casimero and Teresa Saiz, Jose and Maria DeHerrera. Brothers George DeHerrera, Marcelino DeHerrera Jr, Robert DeHerrera, Raymond DeHerrera and her Sisters Margaret McAdams and Ascencion Pacheco.
She is survived by her children. Jennette (Ernest) Valdez, Angela (Les) Schurman and James McKnight Jr. Her grandchildren Elihue Valdez, Aaron Valdez, Kandice (Michael) Wilson, Amber McKnight, Mikel McKnight, Isaac McKnight, Jeanie (Jeff) Link, Barbara (Ethan) Fincher and Todd Holliday and Anthony Holliday. Also surviving her are her great grandchildren Elihue Vialpando, Tessa Vialpando, Julian McKnight, Luke Wilson, David Wilson, Valen McKnight, Benjamin McKnight, Shiloh McKnight, Ryan Fincher, Eli Fincher and Haley Fincher.
Pallbearers will be Ernest Valdez, Les Schurman, Elihue Valdez, Aaron Valdez, Isaac McKnight and Robert Morlan. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of her grandchildren.
The viewing for our Mother will be at St. Mary's on Thursday December 2nd, 2021 at 10:00am followed by the Rosary at 10:30am and service at 11:00 am. She will be laid to rest in Memory Gardens following the service.
