Eloven Acasio Pohl, 89 of Grants, NM passed away on October 7, 2022. He was born on January 3, 1933 in Chilili, NM to Gregorita and Leon Pohl.

In 3rd grade he went to work in the carrot fields to help support his family. From there, began a lifelong journey of hard work. While playing baseball in the street one day, he hit the home run of his life Lupe Montano. They got married and together they went on to raise 5 children. He was a father who had no limits when it came to raising his family.  He was a uranium miner for many, many years and retired twice from there. Eloven lived in Chilili NM, Thoreau NM and settled down in Grants, NM. He enjoyed watching John Wayne movies, and wrestling. Every year he looked forward to going to the family Matanzas at his brother’s ranch in Chilili. He loved going fishing and camping while listening to New Mexico Spanish Music. His biggest enjoyment was being with his grandchildren. He had a personality that would bless anyone’s heart. He was a man of strength and always showed immense courage throughout his lifetime. Especially when it came time to take care of his Quadriplegic daughter. He showed devotion and showed his family how to show unconditional love.

Eloven was survived by his children; Margie Pohl, Angelina Pohl, Dennis Pohl, Eloisa White with her significant other; Nestor Apodaca. Grandchildren Asja White, Shane White, Jaycie White, and Aurelio Apodaca. Sisters Raymie Hands, and Christine Quintana, Brother Albert Pohl.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lupe Pohl, daughter Debbie Pohl, his mother Gregorita and Father Leon Pohl. Sisters Andrea Molina, Nela Pohl and brother Max Pohl.

On Friday October 14, 2022 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, at 9:30 AM -10:30 AM a public visitation will be held, at 10:30 AM a Rosary will be led by Nestor Apodaca. At 11:00 AM a Mass will be celebrated by Father John Paul Sauter. Interment will follow at Grants Memorial Park.

Pallbearers include: Aurelio Apodaca, Nestor Apodaca, Shane White, Shane Ashton White,  Aaron Madrid, Patrick Pohl, Abelino Pohl.

Honorary Pallbearers include; Nestor Apodaca, Catarino Hernandez, Ben and Nancy Ortega, Annette Ortiz, Anthony Kennedy, Fedencio Aragon, Freddie Robledo, Ivan Marquez, Ruby Marquez.

The family would like to give a thank you to the nurses and staff from Loyal services agency, and a very honorable mention to ROOTS home healthcare. The nurses and staff showed exemplary care for our Tata. For their care and compassion and always going above and beyond.

Cope Memorial Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
