Floyd William Henderson

July 7, 1928 — May 15, 2023

Our beloved Floyd Henderson sadly passed away on Monday, May 15th at the age of 94. He was born July 7th, 1928, in Jackson County, Oklahoma to Roy Jay Henderson and Mattie Allene Odell. Floyd is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mattie, and his four siblings, Marie Bixler, Ethel Garlington, RJ Henderson, Jack Henderson and daughter Sally Jo Bay.  He is survived by his wife Roberta Henderson, 4 children, 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

During his life, Floyd served 20 years in the United States Army. He spent one year fighting in the Korean War, and dedicated his final years in service teaching ROTC our of Reno Nevada.  His passion for ROTC and interacting, teaching, and guiding our youth services, he always considered his best and most proud years.   After retirement, spent some of his life in Alaska, where he sold cars and enjoyed the beautiful outdoors. He returned to his hometown and was the Activities Bus Driver for the Bloomfield School District.  He spent 12 years driving kids to games, tournaments, special events and stood on the sidelines supporting and cheering.

Floyd spent 43 years with his first wife, Eva Jean, raising their three children, Colette Jenson, Tony Hartley, and Sally Joe. After Eva Jean’s passing, Floyd met his second wife of 31 years, Roberta Henderson, and gained an additional two children, James Calhoun and Tammy (Calhoun) Corea.

Floyd was a hard worker but always kept his sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time raising paint horses and visiting with his family. He will be greatly missed, though always in our hearts and memories.
