Frederico C Rael

Frederico C. Rael “the Fly” passed away on December 2, 2024, at his home in Grants. He was born on December 9, 1946, in Grants. He was 77 years of age.

Mr. Rael served in the United States Air Force. He worked as a heavy equipment operator, and truck driver, with WW construction, State of New Mexico DOT, and Cibola County. He was deeply devoted to his catholic faith and attended St. Teresa of Avila Catholic church. and was a 3rd degree Knight with council #3683. He was a Member of VFW Post #3221 and served on the honor guard detail. Mr. Rael was loved and will be missed.

He is survived by his children; Eric Rael (Lori), Arthur Madrid (Kim), Fred Rael, Patrick Rael (Sonya). 14 Grandchildren; 17 Great-Grandchildren, his sisters; Julia Rael-Russell (Don), and Angela Rael-Torrez (Clifford) also survive him.

He was preceded in death his father Pete O. Rael and his mother Mellie Chavez Rael. His wife Jennie Rael. One son; Elias Atencio, Two grandsons; Felix Rael and Alex Rael, one brother; Peter Rael Jr., and one sister; Marcie Gonzales.

On Tuesday December 10, 2024, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church a Rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM, then at 10:00 am a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Matthew Keller. Interment will follow at Grants Memorial Park; VFW Post #3221 will render Military Honors. A reception will follow services, at the Grants Rodeo Grounds.

Pallbearers include Adrian Madrid, Eric Rael Jr., Aaron Madrid, Fred Rael Jr., Brandon Rael, and Mateo Atencio.

Honorary Pallbearers include all his grandchildren, great-grandchildren along with his fellow Knights of Columbus.

Cope Memorial Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
