Hazel C. (Chavez) Sandoval

Hazel C. Sandoval passed away on August 2, 2019 in San Rafael, New Mexico surrounded by her loving family, she was 72. She was born on August 2, 1947 in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Hazel retired from Western New Mexico Correctional Facility as an Administrative Assistant. She had previously worked for Mid-West Cap and as a bus driver. She was a devout Catholic and was a member of San Rafael Parish, and for many years involved in many parish activities, including the choir. She will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family.

She is survived by her children; Danette Sandoval (Jesus), Dion Sandoval (Marissa), Danielle Sandoval (Tony). Her grandchildren; Fernando Hernandez, Troy Sandoval, Christian Sandoval, Jason Sandoval, Alicia Canaba, Monique Sandoval, Joshua Canaba. Her great-grandchild; Bailee Sandoval. Her siblings; Victor Chavez of Phoenix, AZ, Lorraine Garcia (Leonard) of Los Lunas, NM, Brian Chavez (Jane) of Amarillo, TX. Her fur-babies; Daphne and Lexie along with many other treasured relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Virginio “Wilkie” Sandoval.  Her children; Tommy Sandoval and Lonnie Sandoval. Her parents; David and Matilda Chavez. Her siblings; Lincoln Chavez, David Chavez, Laura Mae Chavez, Diane Duran, and Raynold Chavez.

On Saturday August 10, 2019 at San Rafael Catholic Church a visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 am, A Rosary will then be recited at 11:00 am, a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father John Paul Sauter at 11:30 AM.  Cremation will follow, and Inurnment will take place at the San Rafael Cemetery at a later date. A reception will follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 1601 E. Roosevelt Ave. in Grants, New Mexico following the services.

Pallbearers include her grandchildren; Fernando Hernandez, Troy Sandoval, Christian Sandoval, Jason Sandoval, Monique Sandoval, Alicia Canaba and Joshua Canaba.

Honorary Pallbearers include; The San Rafael Choir and all of her many, beloved family and friends.

Cope Memorial Chapel of Gallup is entrusted with arrangements.
