Henry E. Yabeny Jr. was born on October 11, 1962 in Shiprock, NM to Alberta Yabeny and Henry Yabeny Sr. Henry lived in Leupp, AZ and was raised in Shiprock and Beclabito by Lilly Yabeny and the late NN Councilman Wilfred Yabeny. Henry Jr. passed away at Abrazo Central Hospital in Phoenix, AZ on Tuesday, November 16, 2021. Henry was Hooghan Łání and To aheedliinii.
Henry went to school in Shiprock and participated in wrestling, football, track & field (threw shot put and discus) and played the trumpet in band. He graduated from SHS in May 1980. He worked for NTUA on the “Line Crew” for a few years. After that, he went to school in Phoenix, AZ for carpentry—where he met his significant other, Denise Lee. Henry and Denise worked for Osmose Utilities for many years. Henry was an Electric Line Tech, working with underground and overhead electric lines. Henry enjoyed his work with Osmose; he worked with Denise travelling to Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, Montana, Ohio, and where Osmose needed them to be.
Henry was a very sociable person and helped those in need when they needed help. He loved to travel, visit family/cousins, and enjoyed watching sports (football, basketball, WWE, golf, PBR, tennis). Henry also like to keep up-to-date with the news and liked to go the casino(s). Henry kept in touch with his numerous cousins and coworkers and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Henry was preceded in death by Henry Yabeny Sr. (father), Alberta Yabeny (mother), Wilfred Yabeny (father), Elwilliam Yabeny (son). He is survived by Denise Lee (significant other), (Michael Yabeny (brother), Lexandra Yabeny (granddaughter), Lilly Yabeny (mother), Loretta Yabeny/Nez (sister), Eric Lee (stepson), Chelsey Lee (stepdaughter), and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Viewing will be 11/24/2021 at Kirtland Cope Memorial from 10-11am. Burial at Beclabito Community Cemetery at 12noon with a drive-through reception meal at the Beclabito Chapter House following the burial. The family of Henry would like to thank the Kirtland Cope Memorial staff, the Beclabito Chapter AND community members, Twin Arrows Casino, and other family and friends who helped with donations, support, and prayers. Thank you to NNMC, Winslow HC, and Abrazo Campus in caring for Henry.
