Irene Teresa Benally

Irene Teresa Benally, a cherished member of the community, passed away on January 9, 2024, in Farmington, New Mexico. She was born on July 30, 1936, in Bisti, New Mexico, to her loving parents Joe Benally and Alice Long. Irene's passing is mourned by her friends and family, who will forever remember her warm heart and kind spirit. She is preceded in death by parents and her two grandchildren Tywanna Begay and Thomas Tenorio.

Irene will be remembered through two significant events that will honor her life. First, a Funeral Service will take place on January 16, 2024, at Upper Fruitland Desert View Church in Upper Fruitland, NM. The service will commence at 10:00 AM and conclude at 11:00 AM. Following that, Irene's burial will take place at the Family Plot in Bisti, NM. The Burial event will begin at 12:00 PM and end at 1:00 PM on the same day. Pallbearers are: Everett Tenorio, Albert Thomas Jr., Arnold Benally, Matthew Benally, Joey Benally, and Kennithan Gould. Honorary Pallbearers are: David Benally, Manuel Benally, Albert Benally and Raymond Tsosie.

Irene touched the lives of many people throughout her journey. She leaves behind a caring circle of survivors who loved her dearly. Survived by four children Drusilla Begay, Arnold Benally, Lavine Tenorio, and Albert Thomas Jr. Through her children and grandchildren, Irene's legacy continues through generations.

Her daughter Dursilla Begay has three daughters – Tywanna Begay, Natasha Begay, and Natalie Wheeler – along with fifteen Grandchildren and five Great Grandchildren.

Her daughter Lavine Tenorio has two sons named Everett Tenorio and Thomas Tenorio along with a daughter Ursula Tenorio and four grandchildren.

Her son Albert Thomas Jr. has a daughter, Jezriel Padilla, and two cherished grandchildren.

Irene Teresa Benally was known for her compassion and generosity toward everyone she encountered. Her acts of kindness brightened the lives of those around her, leaving a lasting impact on the hearts of many. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for the love and warmth she shared with others.
