James H. Augustine Sr.

James H. Augustine, Sr. passed away on June 12, 2019 in Gallup, New Mexico, he was 88 years of age. He was born on June 13, 1930 in Chaco Canyon, New Mexico. He was born to Towering House People for Salt People.

James was a United States Marine Corps Veteran and served in the Korean War. He was Christian, attending Good News Church in Houck Arizona, where he taught Navajo Sunday school. He retired from Gallup Indian Medical Center after 21 years. He was a business owner of a Gulf Station and a Rancher who loved riding his horse. James enjoyed sporting events, especially rodeos and car racing. He loved spending time with his family.

James was survived by his wife; Winnie Augustine. Sons; James Augustine, Jr. of Houck, Arizona and Michael Augustine from Chandler, Arizona. Daughter; Diane Augustine of Phoenix, Arizona. Brother; Phillip Augustine of Kirtland, New Mexico. Sisters; Julia Chavez, Lorraine Jose, June Benally, and Alice Augustine.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Tom and Jennie Augustine of Nageezie, New Mexico and sister Etta Harrison.

Funeral services will be Tuesday June 18, 2019, at Good News Church, Houck, Arizona, at 10:00 AM, officiated by Eugene Chee. Interment will follow at Ft. Defiance Veterans Cemetery.
