Judith Rodriguez

July 27, 1941 — August 26, 2021

Judith “Judy” Christine Valencia Rodriguez, 80, of Bloomfield, New Mexico, passed away peacefully and joined her Heavenly Father on Thursday, August 26, 2021, after a lengthy battle with Chronic Kidney Disease.  Prior to her passing, Judy endured battles with Breast and Colon Cancer and remained joyous and faithful to the Lord while undergoing multiple chemotherapy treatments.

Judy was the oldest of four children born on July 27, 1941, in a small village of Gallina, New Mexico to Amadeo Jose and Alice Maxine (Amick) Valencia.  Mr. and Mrs. Valencia established a residence in the area of Salmon Ruins, which stands to the present date.

Judy attended schools within the local area and was the Valedictorian of the first graduating class of Bloomfield High School in 1959.  She then worked at Blanco Elementary as a Secretary for Principal Bill Herrera, and married Eldon Rodriguez of Blanco.

She was a devoted a mother to her stepdaughter, Regina and her children Andrea, Linda, Rene', and Lisa.

While raising her children, Judy attended San Juan College in pursuit of higher education, but she also had a deep passion for counseling victims of substance and physical abuse.  She volunteered her personal time at the Family Crisis Center where she offered a “listening ear” to people in need.

Judy’s love, care, and affection was endless and without boundaries as she frequently welcomed anyone in need with open arms.  She was deeply committed to sacrificing her personal time and her own resources to house the needy while encouraging them to grow in faith with God, pursue their dreams, and never waver.  She was bright, energetic, and loving.  She was known amongst friends and family as generous and committed to the Christian faith.  She lived her life through the words of Christ and Bible scriptures, and she used them to offer love and hope to others.  In her personal time, Judy enjoyed crafting, sewing, painting, gardening, baking, and interior design projects.

Judy is survived by her five children Regina “Gina” Rodriguez of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Andrea Stephens (Alex) of Fort Worth, Texas, Linda Carey (Michael) of Farmington, New Mexico, Rene’ Rodriguez of Farmington, New Mexico, and Lisa Rodriguez of Bloomfield, New Mexico, her beloved twelve grandchildren, Michael Dailey, Candace and Aron Trujillo, Kameron Sanders, Darryan and Julian Gonzales, Nathalie and Samantha Stephens, Chelsea, Aidan, Addyson, and Dawson Carey, two siblings Angela Freer (Michael) of Sacramento, California, Gregory “Eddie” Valencia (Kim) of Salt Lake City, Utah, and four great-grandchildren.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Steve Valencia (Martha) of Blanco, New Mexico.

A celebration of life will take place September 25, 2021, at 10:00 am, at The Master’s Hand, 306 N 7th Street, Bloomfield, NM with Pastor David Velasquez officiating.  Interment will be at Memory Gardens in Farmington, New Mexico at a later date.
