Leon Yazzie

Leon Yazzie, 59, passed away peacefully to be reunited with his late wife Elizabeth Jim Yazzie, Ruby Hancock Yazzie (Mother), Phillip Yazzie (Father) and Lee Yazzie (Brother) also Ruth Harvey(Sister) Monday, December 27, 2021.

He was born September 2, 1962 to Ruby and Phillip Yazzie in Shiprock, New Mexico.

Leon grew up in Fruitland, NM with his parents and Brothers Leroy, Leo and Sister Elva Henderson of Midway, Utah, late Sister Ruth Harvey of Littlewater, NM then later moved to Kirtland, NM. He married Elizabeth Jim, October 19, 2012 at First United Methodist Church in Shiprock, New Mexico, surrounded by family and friends. Leon was a member of the Methodist church.

He loved to work and be productive, and it showed in everything he did. He also enjoyed working on his artwork which were amazing, and was able to show his work at a printing shop in Kirtland, NM. He also loved being surrounded by his two cats that kept him company.

Leon survived by his brothers Leo and Leroy Yazzie and Sister Elva Henderson and many  Aunts, Uncles, nieces & nephews, cousins.

Preceded in death by his parents Ruby and Phillip Yazzie, wife Elizabeth Jim Yazzie, brother Lee Yazzie and Sister Ruth Harvey.

Leon’s service will be Wednesday January 12, 2022 at 2:00pm.

Burial will be at Shiprock Cemetery, 4:00 pm in Shiprock, NM
