Obituary for Shirley Jean Bunce

Shirley Jean Bunce passed away at 10:02 on November 14th. Shirley was 85 years old born in Jenny Lind, Arkansas in 1936 to Eugene and Elsie Pryor.  Her family moved to Carlsbad, New Mexico where she met the love of her life, Herman Ralph Bunce. She moved to Farmington New Mexico in 1953 with her high school sweetheart and lived in Farmington and raised her 3 children here.

Her children are Susan Watson, Michael Bunce, and Jerri Bunce.  She had 7 grandchildren: Heather Watson-Dugger, Chelsie Webb, Kenneth Bunce, Kristopher Bunce, Krystle Bunce, Cassie Payne, CJ Payne, and Ryan Payne. And she had 6 great-grandchildren; Jareith and Astrea Dugger; Dominic Webb; Azurae and Aleah Bunce; and Kade Friez.  She had one brother, Jerry Pryor, and one sister, Debbie Pryor-Gregg.

Shirley loved her family and get-togethers for holidays were her joy.  She liked to cook and redecorate her home. Shirley and Herman were active in the community and loved to go square dancing in their younger days. They were members of the Elk’s Club and enjoyed going there for dinner and special events.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman; and her grandson, Kristopher.

There will be a small graveside service held in the future after the cremation.  The family asks that any flowers or donations be made to Farmington Animal Shelter.
