Stella Darlene Castillo

Stella Castillo passed away on January 21, 2021 at her home in Grants, New Mexico. She was 73 years of age. She was born on August 12, 1947 in Gallup, New Mexico.

Stella was a long time Grants-Cibola County Schools employee, where she served as a secretary at Los Alamitos Mid School, and in the Central Office cafeteria division. And for a time as a special education assistant. She was devoted to her family, she enjoyed the time she spent with them, especially her grandchildren. Stella was deeply loved and will be missed.

Stella is survived by her children: Phillip Castillo and his wife Tammy, Antonette Castillo and her companion Ruben Avila, Paul Castillo and his wife Andrea, Teri Jaramillo, and Fabian Jaramillo. 10 grandchildren: Kristopher Restrepo, Austin Restrepo, Dylon Castillo, Santana Sanchez, Cesar Longoria, Madison Castillo, Marcus Baca, Luke Garcia, Elijah Jaramillo, DJ Martinez, and Matthew Jaramillo. 2 great-grandsons: Kayden Martinez and Daxton Martinez. Her siblings; Helen Bell, Marilyn Chavez and her husband David, Diana Benavidez and her husband Lawrence, and Eddie Jaramillo and his wife Whitney. along with numerous other Godchildren, nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband Luis “Louie” Castillo on January 20, 2017. Her parents; Eddie A. and Amalia “Mollie” Jaramillo. Her sister; Dorothy Jaramillo. Two great-grandchildren; Ella Grace and Camden John.

On Tuesday January 26, 2021 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church at 9:30 am a Rosary will be recited, then at 10:00 am a Mass will be celebrated by Father John Paul Sauter. Burial will follow at Grants Memorial Park. Masks are required and all social distancing protocol will be followed.

Pallbearers include: Kristopher Restrepo, Marcus Baca, Dylon Castillo, Stephen Aragon, Johnny Baca, Fabian Jaramillo, and Darrell Sanchez.

Honorary Pallbearers include: All of her nephews and nieces.

Cope Memorial Chapel of Gallup is entrusted with arrangements.
