Branch: Army National Guard
Vance Lionel Yazzie, 29 of Farmington passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2021. He was born on January 13, 1992 in Shiprock, New Mexico to Benson Jim and Angelina Yazzie.
Vance was the only boy of 4 sisters, a loving Uncle to his two nephews and only niece. He grew up in San Juan County, Farmington, enjoyed playing basketball as a child, loved watching and speaking about Dragon Ball Z, he was also a fan of WWE throughout his whole life. Vance loved listening to Rock, Heavy Metal and attending concerts with friends. Vance attended Ojo Amarillo Elementary School, Kirtland Middle School and Kirtland High School. As years passed he then decided to join The New Mexico National Guard where he was a transportation driver, he really enjoyed driving the military trucks and doing his monthly drills. While he was serving for the National Guard, he was also working full-time for a company (Aviands) who served many students school lunches for the Farmington School District, working with staff there and making coworkers laugh throughout most days and helping with what they needed. After a few years of working and chose not to re-enlist in the National Guard, he then decided to move on and lived in multiple states such as North Carolina and Utah. When he lived in North Carolina, he was staying with his sisters and brother-in-laws on a military base as well, he really enjoyed that. After a year he then moved to Utah, he lived with a friend, held a job there and enjoyed what he was doing at the time. He had many friends throughout the years, giving a positive vibe to anyone who needed cheering up. He loved making everyone laugh, a big jokester. He enjoyed spending time with close friends and relatives. He loved to travel and prefer to be the driver on many occasional trips with family. Vance on occasion would also play Xbox with friends and his nephews when he could. He was a very loving down to earth guy, helping those in need or when he could, especially helping his recent friends who needed a warm place to sleep. He loved his family very much, and cared for relatives, near and far. He will be greatly missed by his family and many more.
