Vanessa Sasha Atencio

On Saturday January 1, 2022 our beloved mother, daughter, sister, niece, aunt and cousin Vanessa Sasha Atencio aka bunny passed away. She passed at the age of 35 years old, Vanessa was living in Huerfano, New Mexico with her mother Caroline Atencio and daughter Shawna Nicole John. Born in Shiprock, New Mexico on May 15,1986 and died at San Juan Regional Medical in Farmington, New Mexico. Vanessa went to San Juan College and received her GED and then also attended San Juan College for a degree in psychology. She was fascinated with helping people in any way possible. She worked for the Bus Barn in Bloomfield, New Mexico, Vanessa's duty was to make sure the students on her bus are safe and well taken care of on there way home to school. Vanessa would often write in her journal and draw to relax her mind and soul, she loved drawing flowers, crosses, hands and her favorite tv characters. She also drew butterflies which represent her name. Vanessa was into listening to music with her daughter, her favorite genre of music was late 90’s and 2000's. She enjoys watching horror movies with her daughter Shawna while eating their favorite snacks. Vanessa was known for her kind heart, caring and loving personality. She was very independent, talkative and easy going. Vanessa would talk to anyone and welcome them with an open heart. She was truly an amazing woman and mom to both her daughter and community. She will be loved and missed by many. As we lay her to rest she will no longer be in pain but at peace and freedom. Vanessa has joined her adoring grandpa Albert Atencio Sr. who passed away on July 16th of 2003. She sadly had to leave her only shy silly loving daughter Shawna Nicole John , mother Caroline Atencio, older brother Parnell Atencio, younger sisters Tesia Atencio, Alyssa Atencio Sanchez, Grandmother Ruth Atencio and also several extended family. We love you Bunny. Your forever in our hearts.
