William Donald Smith

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of William Donald Smith, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left us peacefully on February 07, 2025, at the age of 73.

Born on August 25, 1951, William, known to his loved ones as Bill, was a kind and gentle soul who brought joy and laughter to all who knew him. Bill leaves behind his loving wife, Coleen Walker-Smith; his two daughters, Amanda Elser and Alice Smith; five cherished grandchildren, Natalie, Nicole, Madison, Leuxian, and Isaiah; and his brother, Dan Smith.

Bill was an exceptional musician, known for his talent on the guitar. Music was not just a hobby for him, but a true passion, one that he shared with those around him. In addition to his musical pursuits, Bill had a deep fondness for animals, especially dogs, and treated every creature with kindness and respect.

A lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Bill had a heart full of enthusiasm for both his team and his many interests, from swords and video games to the campy charm of B-movies. His love for all things "weird" made him uniquely him, a person who found joy in the unconventional and brought that spirit of fun to everyone around him.

Professionally, Bill worked as a CAD drafter, a career that reflected his meticulous nature and dedication. He made his home in Farmington, New Mexico, where he spent many years surrounded by family, friends, and a community he loved dearly.

He made the world a brighter place with his presence and will be missed deeply by all who had the privilege to know him.

A celebration of life will be held on March 1, at 1:30 at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home. A reception will follow at the Funeral Home. ‘In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local animal shelter, a cause close to Bill’s heart.
