Ella Bigman, Naschitti NM

Ella Bigman, 79 of Naschitti, NM passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022 in Farmington. She was born May 12, 1942 at Naschitti to Tom Bigman and Mary Foster. Her clans are Hasht l'ishnii (Mud people clan), T l'aashchi'i (The Red Bottom People clan).

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Cope Memorial Kirtland. Viewing at 9am, service at 10am. Burial to follow at Naschitti Cemetery.

Ella loved to weave, beadwork, sewing quilts, and caring for her sheep. She attended Chemawa Indian School in Oregon and Chilocco Indian School in Oklahoma. Upon completion, she found work in Dallas, TX. She returned and made her home in Naschitti with her companion, Herbert Willie.

Ella was preceded in death by her father, Tom Bigman, mother Mary Foster, her son, Dennison Bigman. Brothers Billy & Harry Bigman,'Glovis Foster, sisters Joanne Whitehorse, Lorraine Bigman. Nephews, Travis Justin Canuto, Leland Platero, niece, Michelle Whitehorse.

Survivors include her sisters Louise Canuto of Upper Fruitland, Mary Ruth Foster of Springville, VA., niece Veronica Canuto, Grandsons Justin R. Canuto, Caleb Canuto, Matthew Jayden Szabo,  Cody Toledo, great granddaughter Zade Toledo. Sisters Loretta Bonney, Elsie Bigman, Laverne Platero, Irene Atencio. Brothers  Nelson Arthur, James Bigman, Harrison Bigman, and Wilson Bigman; Nieces, Alberta Baker, Roberta Bonney, Savannah & Sammantha Atencio, Donielle Bigman, Laree Johnson, Lavonne & Lacresha Platero, Sangeleta Jim, Danielle Bigman, Twilight Smith, Florell Lee. Nephews: LeAndrew Bigman, Brandon Bonney, Tommy Brown, Nelson Atencio Jr., Stinsen Bigman, James Bigman Jr., Stepson  Bigman, Micheal & Mitchell Bigman and Elliot Platero. Grandchildren Arnalda Yazzie, Alicia Johnson, Hallie Johnson, Shad Sanchez, Andre Baker, Andreas Bonney, Meilani Bigman, Tiana Bonney, Memphis Atencio and Emilio Atencio. Great grandchildren: Nala Yazzie, Braydon Yazzie, Nattiel & Avien Sanchez, Julian Bigman, Aresha Silver.
